I have used Pentland Masonry on various projects including repairing an old stone wall knocked down by a lorry, building a new 17 metre long wall, facing an existing block terrace with old cut stone
and building a new set of stone stairs. In each project the work has been done on time, to budget and always the work has been of a first class standard, for example the mended wall included working quite a lot of new stone in to fit an existing pattern and the finished result is much admired. Mark and Sandy work to a very high rather old fashioned standard and their traditional stone working skills and work ethic are something that is not easily found today. Work sites remain tidy and are cleared away when the job is finished. I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending Pentland Masonry as a first class small company that takes care and trouble over all and any job it is contracted to do.

Pentland Masonry have built a brick wall, a natural stone patio and natural stone dwarf walls for me. I am delighted with their workmanship, their workrate, their punctuality and their reliability. All costs are reasonable and Mark and Sandy are very polite and flexible. I will be using them in future for several jobs that I have in mind and I am totally confident not only in the advice that they give me but that I will end up with a first class job. I have recommended Pentland Masonry to three friends who thanked me in turn for the recommendation so it's not just me that rates them. Wouldn't use anyone else for patio/driveway/walls or general stonework.

Our very large, 200 year old garden wall had been poorly patched over the years and as a result, it was getting dangerous with bits of stone and cement pointing starting to fall onto the pavement.
Pentland Masonry cleared out all the old pointing, removed any loose masonry, and then re-pointed the wall beautifully using the correct lime mortar.
It now looks like it will last another 200 years!

Mark and Sandy of Pentland Masonry have worked for me on two separate occasions.
They repaired a damaged wall following an accident with a car and built some lovely new stone coping to finish it off.
They have since repointed a dividing wall on both sides between myself and my neighbours who are also delighted with their own side, resurfaced an old window sill and also done extensive repairs to one of my upstairs windows.
Both Sandy and Mark are hard working honest and courteous.
The standard of their work is very high and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

Pentland Masonry first worked on our property as a subcontractor. We were so happy with their approach and skill that we have had them back to work on multiple projects. In the last year they have rebuilt a very large collapsed section of retaining wall in a difficult to access part of our garden, closed a garage door opening with old and new stone (it is almost impossible to see where the new stone work ties into the old) repointed/repaired our gable, and also removed and rebuilt a substantial entrance pier.
Sandy and mark have been happy to listen to concerns, discuss options and offer potential solutions throughout.
We have been entirely happy with all their work and will be calling on them for future stonework projects/maintenance advice.

We needed a stonemason to dismantle our old crumbling wall and rebuild it using traditional methods.
